"is the microphone connection correct?"

I am experiencing an issue where my microphone was previously functioning but now it seems to be non-operational. I have checked the settings and it appears that the microphone is not muted. Could the issue be related to a hardware problem, such as if the motherboard was replaced and the front panel connections for the microphone were not properly reconnected? As a troubleshooting step, should I try connecting the microphone to the ports at the back of the computer instead? Are there any other potential solutions or explanations for this issue that I should consider?
